From Stigma to Support: Addressing Mental Health and Illness (2 CEUs)
This 2-hour course demonstrates to participants how attitudes, language, and daily practices directly shape the emotional well-being of the people in our care. In residential care, residents may already face loss, adjustment, trauma, disability, aging challenges, or developmental differences—and when stigma is added, it can silence needs, create fear, and reduce trust.
This course shifts the focus from judgment to understanding, from labels to person-centered care, and from avoidance to meaningful support. Together, we will learn how to recognize stigma, replace it with empathy, strengthen communication, uphold dignity, and build environments where residents feel safe, respected, heard, and supported in their mental health.
