The Holidays are Coming!
Are You Ready?
Holidays can be a wonderful and fun time—but they can also be stressful and difficult. They’re a great reason to get together with family and friends, take part in favorite traditions, and eat some good food. Some have spiritual importance, while others are just for fun.
But holidays can also bring with them stress, changes of schedule, increased demands on time, and depression and loneliness for some.
The holidays can be even more challenging in residential care.
That’s where we come in. We’ve put together a workshop for administrators to help them:
- Understand and develop ideas for helping residents observe their own cultures’ holidays
- Manage their own increased levels of stress
- Navigate family dynamics
- Help residents cope with changes in routine, schedules, activities, and diets
- Help residents who are dealing with grief, depression, and loneliness
- Maintain quality of care and resident safety
We’ll answer questions like:
- How do I include everyone in the celebrations, but also respect their differences?
- What do I do for residents that will be traveling?
- How do I accommodate for additional visitors?
- How do I ensure that observances remain in compliance with regulations? (For example, how to follow meal and nutritional guidelines during a fasting period)
- How can I help residents who struggle with depression or loneliness?
- What do I do about staff requests for time off?
