30 Years of Success: Celebrating Three Decades of Business Excellence
With a profound sense of pride and achievement, we mark the 30th anniversary of Community Training Connection (CTC). Throughout the past three decades, CTC has consistently served as a steadfast catalyst for empowerment, education, and community transformation. From its inception, our organization has embarked on an extraordinary voyage, powered by a mission to empower individuals and facilitate positive change. As we commemorate this momentous occasion, we invite you to join us in reflecting upon the remarkable voyage, accomplishments, and promising future that awaits CTC, steadfastly impacting the lives of innumerable individuals and nurturing vibrant communities. To understand the driving force behind the team, we interviewed our founder and president Rhonda Mayer, here’s what we learned:
What initially drove your desire to start Community Training Connection?
I had a great job with a great benefit plan as the Quality Assurance and Training Manager for six years before starting the company. I wanted to be in my own business so that I could spend more time with my children. I was consulting with programs funded by regional centers, primarily residential services. I had the best of all worlds – making a difference in people’s lives, volunteering in my children’s schools, and spending a lot of summer days together.
What are you proudest of accomplishing with Community Training Connection?
There’s so much to be proud of. We have the best team! That means the best online catalog of classes, the greatest customer service, fantastic trainers for live classes, brilliant subject matter experts, a solid client base (many of whom have been with us since the beginning), and continued growth. Most of all, we’ve been able to consistently deliver on our promise of classes that are always informative, lively, and fun!
What is your favorite part of running Community Training Connection?
I work with the most fantastic group of people – creative, bright, and energetic staff; students who really want to be the best – to go beyond mere compliance – and really personalize services for each person in their care; connecting with our partners to assure the best services available for our clients are favorites.
What were the company’s operations like when you first started? Who was your first hire?
I was THE company for the first 12 years, with some occasional clerical help. In 2005, I incorporated the company, moved to an office in Chatsworth, and hired our first administrative assistant. We added a marketer and an online training developer shortly after that.
What are some of your fondest memories over the last 30 years with the company?
I love training the 2nd and 3rd generation of administrators – we have nine families where we’ve trained 3 generations. All of our celebrations bring back fond memories – our company celebrations are great (especially the occasions that we had our whole staff together from 3 states and it was the first time we had all been in the same space together – ever). I remember one class where we had students from programs called Sunrise, Sunset, and Sunshine. Our 25th-anniversary celebration was a hoot! We had a photo booth, a disc jockey, and dancers and omelets – can it get any better?
What are your future dreams for Community Training Connection?
I hope to continue to grow all of our catalogs and meet the needs of our students with helpful products and services.
